Radical developments in technology have seen CNC lathes rapidly replace the older production lathes in favour of easier operation. A CNC lathe is electronically controlled via a computer system. The advantage of these more modern machines is that the knowledge required to operate them is more general in comparison to the previous machines meaning that one person can set and operate a number of machines at one time as they only require occasional supervision.
